Alltwen born Ospreys, Wales and Lions star Justin Tipuric returned to his roots on Tuesday night and held a combined coaching session for Alltwen seniors and Valley Crusaders Under 16’s at the Gwyn Street ground.
'Unusually large' numbers of players turned up from both sides to greet and learn from Lon Hir’s finest, despite the kind of foul conditions that had forced the Tipuric family to seek the sunnier lowland climes of Trebanos, when Justin was a nipper.
Whatever his origins, there is no doubt that the Swansea Valley has produced one of the most intelligent and skilful players in world rugby, with players of all ages hanging on to his every word. A big thank you is extended to Justin from all involved with both sides.
The Crusaders will be looking to put their masterclass learning into practice in their clash with Loughor on Sunday, the day after Alltwen seniors host Ogmore Vale in a game vital to their chances of securing the division title, Saturday 2:30. All are welcome, Justin too, of course.
