Alltwen will look to cap a successful 2016/17 season by adding the West Wales Plate to their league trophy in a final against Amman United, Thursday 18th May. The game is to be played under lights at Loughor RFC KO 19:00
Alltwen were formally crowned Division 3 West C Central champions despite a narrow 13-12 league season ending game at Ogmore Vale. Tries from Liam Williams a pack score attributed to Ceiron Daniel plus a conversion from Andrew Roberts were not enough to defeat a highly motivated opposition determined to restore honour after the 60-0 hammering received at Gwyn St a few weeks earlier. Despite conceding only one try and coming desperately close to adding further tries themselves, Alltwen were ultimately undone by a stiff second half breeze which helped their opponents clear their lines by continually sending the ball half way down the Garw Valley.
Next it is Alltwen's turn to attempt to end the season on an even bigger high as they attempt to defeat a side which has already tasted cup success with victory in the WRU Bowl against Caerphilly in the Principality Stadium last month, courtesy of a little help from local lad Shane Williams. Alltwen will be looking to create a few legends themselves on Thursday. So for one last time this season , let's bring it on!
